You Can Now Buy The Cottage That Inspired Christmas Movie ‘The Holiday’

Have you ever seen The Holiday? It stars Cameron Diaz, Jude Law, Jack Black and Kate Winslet and basically is a movie version of Wife Swap. As someone who watched it for the first time last night, I can confirm that it’s terrible.

However, one part of it that really stuck out was the cottage owned by Winslet’s character, Rosehill.

Despite the fact that the set of Rosehill Cottage was created specifically for the movie, it was actually inspired by a real house which is now available on Rightmove.

Honeysuckle Cottage lies in the village of Holmbury St Mary, near Dorking.

The Holiday cottage

The house has three bedrooms along with a spacious living, dining room, and kitchen, though it still boasts a stone fireplace.

Honeysuckle Cottage has an the arched doorway very similar to where Amanda met Graham for the very first time. Cute.

A description on the site reads: “A stunning extended period cottage with ironstone galleting and brick quoins under a tiled roof complemented by leaded light windows.

“The property retains many character features including an inglenook fireplace with Jotul log burner and exposed timbers.

“Features of particular note include the bespoke craftsmen-built hand-painted kitchen with oil fired AGA, underfloor heating to the ground floor and an extensive use of oak joinery throughout.

“The property enjoys delightful landscaped gardens which incorporates an extensive area of flagstone laid terrace with lovely views.”

Honeysuckle Cottage is currently up for sale for £650,000.
