There’s Been A Huge Update On Robert Pattinson’s Batman Movie

No way!

The new Batman movie, starring Robert Pattinson, will not be an origin story.

This has been a rumour for a while, however The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that the movie will see Batman as an already established character in the new movie which is due to be released in 2021.

However, the reports do say that Batman is ”still trying to find his footing on his way to becoming the genius detective”.

Director, Matt Reeves, reportedly wanted an actor around the age of 30 to show that he’s not yet the ”world’s greatest detective”. DC Films apparently wanted Pattinson, 33, as he has not yet had a connection to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

It looks like the cat’s got the cream as High School Musical‘s Vanessa Hudgens is the latest Hollywood star rumoured to join the world of superhero movies.

Matt Reeves is currently working on The Batman and is set to reinvent the Caped Crusader for a new generation. While there are reports of up to six villains being a part of the movie — to help kick-start a trilogy — it sounds like there will be a Batman Returns reunion focussing on Penguin and Catwoman.

Hudgens’ name has started doing the rounds when it comes to suiting up as the slinky Selina Kyle. Back in January, YouTube channel The BYO Show correctly predicted Pattinson was in the running to play Batman. Now, the channel is throwing Hudgens’ name out there for Catwoman.

If you aren’t convinced, one fan artist has imagined what she would look like in a PVC catsuit.

Mizuriofficial is a digital artist from Melbourne and has pulled together a pretty impressive poster with Hudgens as Selina Kyle. Catwoman is one of the most iconic Batman characters of all time, making a name for herself as the Dark Knight’s enemy, lover, and even wife.

In the movies, Michelle Pfeiffer cemented herself as Ms. Kyle in Tim Burton’s acclaimed Batman Returns. It’s hard to imagine how anyone will ever be able to top this. While Anne Hathaway just missed the mark in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises, at least it wasn’t as bad as the horrendous Halle Berry-led Catwoman.

For anyone questioning Hudgens’ acting ability, remember she’s also stared in the likes of Sucker Punch and alongside Mads Mikkelsen in Netflix’s gritty Polar.

I’ve got to agree that the Hudgens fan art is pretty impressive and I’m not totally against the idea.
