Rylan Clark-Neal has confirmed that Supermarket Sweep is coming back, and he is hosting.
The incredible gameshow ran from 1993-2001, and is synonymous with the late Dale Winton, however it seems that TV bosses feel that the public is ready for it to come back.
Dale Winton tragically passed away in April last year.
Announcing the news on Instagram, Rylan said: “Been waiting a while to say this but it’s finally time to GO WILD IN THE AISLES ONCE AGAIN!”
The 20-episode reboot will also apparently run in a ‘prime time slot’ later this year.
He added: “Supermarket Sweep is back, and I can’t wait for you to CHECK IT OUT. See you soon on @itv2 #SupermarketSweep.”
One fan wrote: “I couldn’t think of anyone better to continue the show. I know you’ll do Dale justice whilst putting your own spin on it.”
Another tagged their friend, saying: “please please please can we apply to go wild in the aisles?? This is my lifelong dream (after being a blue peter presenter)”/
Speaking to The Sun, a TV insider said: “It was felt that nobody else was better suited to take over the role which was synonymous with Dale for so long,
“Rylan has a personality that will allow him to conjure up all the campery of old while still making the role his own.”
You don’t have long to wait for the reboot, as it will take place Monday to Friday over four weeks later this year.
