Primark Is Selling An ‘Exact Dupe’ Of MAC’s Signature Velvet Teddy Lipstick

Primark’s cheap clothes and accessories are a Godsend. If you want something ridiculously cheap and you’re not particularly bothered about brands, pop into Primark. Plus, their home accessories are insane at the moment so if you haven’t already, check it out.

Everyone’s losing it at the moment because the cheap lifestyle store is selling a ‘dupe’ of MAC’s signatire Velvet Teddy lipstick.

Although it looks like it’s been known about for a while, as some tweets date back to late last year.

It’s only £2 and you can find it in Primark now.

However, dupes aren’t all sunshine and daisies as popular shoe-maker Vans is taking the budget retailer to court for allegedly copying the designs of two of their iconic trainers.


The iconic footwear brand says Primark has been selling ‘intentional copies’ of the trainers in the UK since 2017. They apparently asked Primark to stop in January, and believed that it was all over and done with. However, they then were made aware of the shop still selling the shoes in America.

Metro reports that the lawsuit that has been filed and alleges trademark infringement, unfair competition and false advertising.

As you can see by these comparison pictures, Vans’ Old Skool trainers (£55) are on the left.

They’re also questioning some shoes that reportedly look similar to Vans Sk8-Hi shoe design (£65), shown here on the left.

In court documents, Vans said, ‘the Side Stripe Trademark’s prominent placement and often-contrasted colour make Vans’ shoes immediately recognisable to consumers even at far-off distances.’ They also raise the issue that members of the public refer to the shoes as ‘fake Vans’.

They continued, saying that the shoes are ‘calculated and intentional knock-offs of Vans’ footwear products’ that were ‘designed to confuse the purchasing public.’

Primark told the WWD that it plans to ‘defend’ its position.
