Warning: Avengers: Endgame spoilers ahead
While we can’t wait to see what happens in Spider-Man: Far From Home, not everyone is overly impressed by the latest spoileriffic trailer for Jon Watts’ Spidey sequel.
The first post-Endgame movie shows our friendly neighbourhood hero back in action and taking on a new threat of supervillains wreaking havoc on the world. Joining the fray as a potential ally of Peter Parker, Jake Gyllenhaal is sticking a goldfish bowl on his head to play Mysterio.
Taking to Twitter, disgruntled fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are confused at why some cinemas have been showing the newFar From Home trailer ahead of Endgame. Considering the upcoming Spider-Man outing spoils the big twist of Iron Man’s death, you can see why people might be a little pissed:
Seeing Endgame again today and my biggest concern is them playing the new Spider-Man trailer before it and ruining it for anyone there seeing it for the first time…like my dad 😬— Nick Grimes (@NickEllard) May 8, 2019
Man… The Russo’s weren’t kidding about the spoiler embargo ending yesterday. They just showed the new Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer before our screening of Avengers: Endgame.— Danny Limor (@DannyLimor) May 7, 2019
Apparently Odeon showed this trailer before Endgame 🙈— Salkunh (@Salkunh) May 8, 2019
@VueHelp Do you think it's a good idea to show Spiderman trailer before Endgame! Just sat in Altrincham cinema and basically ruined what I am about to watch! Thanks!!— Andy Robinson (@Andyrobo158) May 8, 2019
The first issue started before the movie began. There was a Spiderman trailer!!! I know most people watching Endgame probably already knew about it, but can we at least pretend that there's a chance all those characters wouldn't come back?— Zachary Arneson (@ZacharyArneson) May 8, 2019
@ThatKevinSmith A theater showed the new Spiderman trailer before Avengers endgame. Spoiling the movie right before the movie. Even tho the start of the trailer said don't watch if you haven't seen the movie!— Marshalpoi (@EvanMaor) May 8, 2019
We were right on the money as the first Far From Home trailer teased the death of Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark in Endgame. As well as Nick Fury taking over as Spidey’s gruff mentor, Happy Hogan was seen holding a cheque signed by Pepper Potts (not Tony). Elsewhere, Peter seemed pretty emotional looking at the Spidey suit Stark gave to him in Spider-Man: Homecoming and Hogan stoically warned, “You’re all alone.”
