In a bid to continue it’s true crime offerings, Netflix has dropped the trailer for their latest three-part docuseries, Killer Inside: The Mind Of Aaron Hernandez.
The description on their official video reads: Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez is a three-part documentary series examining what led to the murderous fall and shocking death of former NFL superstar Aaron Hernandez.
For those not familiar with Aaron Hernandez, he was former American NFL player who was convicted for the murder of Odin Lloyd in 2013, before he took his own life in prison shortly after.
The trailer depicts the outside life of someone who seemed to have it all, and his death and conviction appeared to come as a shock to the general public at the time, but further on in the short clip it becomes apparent that all wasn’t as it seemed.
Speaking to his mother on the phone while in prison, Hernandez can then be heard saying: “I was the happiest little kid in the world and you f***ed me up.” She replies with: “‘I ain’t living with that.” Hernandez then shouts: “You did! I had nobody. What you think I was gonna do? Become a perfect angel?”
Hernandez was convicted of the murder of future brother-in-law Odin Lloyd, shooting him on 17 June 2013. The NFL player was then sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Hernandez had then also been tried for the 2012 double murder of Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado, but was acquitted.
On 19 April 2017, Hernandez was found dead in his prison cell after apparently hanging himself with a bedsheet.
The series will land on Netflix on 15 January, and will be three-parts long, delving into the news reports and will consist of interviews from people who knew the Hernandez throughout his life. It will also follow the trial and ultimately conviction and death.
