It Looks Like Lucifer Could Continue Despite ‘Cancellation’

There’s hope yet!

Fan-favourite show Lucifer has been dangling at the brink of cancellation.

Originally, the show was cancelled after season three by FOX, but was renewed by Netflix. The streaming service then took the show on for one season at a time.

After season four debuted, the streaming service renewed it for a fifth, and at the time final run.

Now, the show looks like it could make it to six seasons after negotiations resumed with Netflix to round off the story with a final season.

According to TV Line, negotiations are continuing.

An insider said:

“Negotiations between Warner Bros. Television and Netflix continue and both sides appear optimistic that a renewal deal will come to fruition. Length-wise, I’m hearing the bonus season would likely consist of between 10 and 13 episodes.”

The news comes after fans believed that season five would be the last one.

If a deal can be agreed between Netflix and the production team, the upcoming run will continue the story.

At the time, series star DB Woodside implied that the team had envisioned a six series run for the show.

So whilst he played this down at the time – an extra renewal would give the creative team the space to fulfil the original vision.

If the negotiations are as far along as the insider thinks, we should hear confirmation in the coming weeks.

Lucifer season five is coming Spring 2020.
