There’s A New Harry Potter Game Coming To Mobile And It Looks Magical

Harry Potter is set to make a return to gaming world, with Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, the first new Wizarding World game since 2012’s Book of Spells.

The iOS and Android RPG is set to take you to Hogwarts in the 1980s, where you’ll to create a personalised avatar to roam the castle halls, practice spells, attend lessons with famous faces from the Potter franchise, including Professors Dumbledore, Snape and McGonagall, along with the affable half-giant Hagrid.

Fans have understandably reacted excitedly to the trailer:

Despite the initial excitement, some people are still bemoaning the fact the game will only see a mobile release.

The good news for fans is that there are actually two new Potter mobile games on the way this year; both set for release under Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment’s new Portkey Games label, though they are developed by different studios.

Also on the way is Harry Potter: Wizard’s Unite which will be developed by Pokemon GO creators Niantic, and feature a similar VR mechanic, where the spells and creatures from Harry’s universe are super-imposed onto real life surroundings.

There’s a lot of activity clearly going on surrounding the franchise, so let’s not completely rule out a console edition just yet…

If mobile games aren’t for you why not check out Harry Potter in Minecraft!

Up next: There’s a new Harry Potter fan film and it’s surprisingly pretty good.
