Doctor Who is without a doubt one of the most-loved British television shows of all time.
Even those amongst us who haven’t ever watched the show probably have some kind of idea on what the whole thing is about.
Guy / girl with a fancy screwdriver, weird talking robots and a flying, time traveling phone box – all sounds about right doesn’t it?
Obviously that’s a pretty lacklustre description of a show that is loved by so many. That being said, it seems Netflix went for a similar sort of vibe with their own synopsis of the show.
Journalist Martin Belam shared a photo of the description on Twitter, which reads: “Evil aliens. A wacky but brilliant tourguide. Flying through space in a tiny blue box is the trip of a lifetime.”
Belam captioned the description “the worst ever Doctor Who synopsis.”

Others were quick to comment on the bizarre description.
Tiny blue box?….have they actually watched it?

“Follow along as the Wacky Doctor journeys through space AND NOTHING ELSE.”

Another reply saw someone highlight the old Google synopsis for the show was also pretty questionable, just for a ton of different reasons.
This used to be the one on Google. Completely bizarre. pic.twitter.com/J7nR23jBL4

Apparently the Netflix description is the one that’s used by the streaming service’s app on Virgin Media TiVo boxes – so not everyone will see it.
The description on Netflix’s website fairs better, reading, “An updated incarnation of everybody’s favourite time-travelling Doctor sets about fighting nefarious aliens and other foes in this epic sci-fi series.”
Doctor Who will return to BBC 1 in 2020, with Jodie Whittaker set to reprise her role as the Thirteenth Doctor, alongside Graham (Bradley Walsh), Yasmin (Mandy Gill) and Ryan (Tosin Cole).
