Ariana Grande has lashed out on Twitter in support of girl band, Little Mix.

Piers Morgan (who else) caused controversy when he criticised the band for posing naked. The picture was a ‘feminist statement’, but Piers concluded that Little Mix were ‘using sex’ to sell records.

He discussed the photo on ITV’s Good Morning Britain earlier this week, saying: “Here’s a great idea, girls – if you want to really empower yourselves, get naked and put the word slut all over your body,

“Why don’t we stop pretending that getting your kit off is feminist empowerment?”

Little Mix member Jesy Nelson then spoke to BBC’s Nick Grimshaw on Radio 1, saying that she was not surprised by his comments. She then used an expletive to describe the TV host.

She then posted pictures of herself on Instagram, posing in underwear.

I woke up like this! (Definitely didn’t took me a very long time to master this pose)

Piers then hit back, saying: “Oh Jesy, you’ve let yourself down, love” before demanding a public apology from the band live on GMB.

He also tweeted that the 27-year-old looked “ridiculous” in the photo, and claimed that the band had stolen the idea for the photograph from the Dixie Chicks.

Ariana Grande got involved after her mother, Joan, tweeted:

Piers hit back: “Hi Joan, my mother taught me to speak my mind & never be afraid to express honestly held opinion. Ellen’s a hypocrite – and as for Little Mix, I’d just prefer they use their talent to sell records rather than their nudity. As your own daughter does…!”

This didn’t go unnoticed by Ariana, who tweeted back:

She then Tweeted Little Mix directly…

Although she wasn’t done with Piers, adding:

Little Mix clearly appreciated the gesture, and directed another Tweet at Ariana….

That’s a lot of Tweeting. Piers has now invited Ariana onto his show to discuss the issue further.
